Last week I went to the doctor to see if there was any specific reason why I was getting these terrible headaches. (No worries, it's not a tumor!) After the doctor we went to Savers, which is basically Value Village, it's even set up the same way. I wasn't too trilled with the place and found it's pretty pricey. But I did find something wonderful...
I joined a swap, my very first one. And I'm really excited about it. It's a bird swap, yay! Anyone who really knows me knows that I love birds. You just have to make 5 birds meant to be hung up all year round and then mail them to the host who will in turn mail you back 5 different birds. So not only do I get to be crafty I get 5 different little birds in return. I was fretting over what to make and then my mom gave me a great idea...
...I think they're adorable and want to make some for myself. If you think they are adorable too then make sure you're back here on the 20th of January when I will post a give-away for a set of three little birds like these. One lucky person will win all three. So make sure you check back here on the 20th.
During the holidays I realized we didn't have a nativity. My mom has a wonderful nativity that I just loved growing up and I've always wanted one of my own. When I saw this one at Derest Book I had to get it. It was only $9.99, which always helps...
...pretty right? It's about 12 inches tall and all one piece, which I love beacause we didn't have much room for a huge 57 piece nativity.
And lastly, we tried another new recipe last night and boy was it delish! It's similar to sheperd's pie but instead of mashed potatoes on the top it's cornbread...
...Nathanael loved it, I loved it. It was very yummy and very easy. I don't really follow recipes or measure ingredients but here is the basic idea.
Brown 1 lb. of ground hamburger and season to taste (I use garlic powder and chili powder). Add 1 small can of tomato sauce and about 1 cup of thawed corn and heat through, transfer to a lightly greased casserole dish, sprinkle with 1/2 cup grated cheese. Make a regular cornbread recipe (I use the Jiffy mix) and pour over hamburger mixture, spread to make sure the cornbread is even. Bake in a 350 degree oven until the cornbread is done.
You can add pretty much anything to the hamburger you want, if Nathanael didn't loathe tomatoes I would have added those, some other ideas are: olives, peas, beans, onions...you get the idea.
