First Time Home-Made Chilli
Monday night I got out the two bags of beans that had been in our cupboard for a long time to soak them so I could make a salad I found a recipe for in a magazine (it was a three bean and tuna salad). I soaked them all night long and then Nathanael cooked them on Tuesday while I was at work so they would be ready for the salad. The salad, well, it wasn't very yummy and it left us with a bowl full of beans. What's a girl to do with a bowl full of beans? She makes home-made chilli for the first time ever!
Yum, look how delish it is. I used the three kinds of beans, pinto, black and great white northern (which is the stupidest name), two 8-ounce cans of tomato sauce, a big can of stewed tomatoes, about a cup of corn, 1 lb. of groung beef, garlic, chilli powder and onion powder. Then when it was ready to eat we put shredded mozzarella cheese on top. It was so yummy and it made enough for three meals! We had some for lunch today and I put some in the freezer for later.
I was so proud of myself, the first time I make chilli and it turns out wonderful! We only had al ittle bit of chilli powder left so it's not as chilli-ish as I would have like but I let it simmer for about a half an hour and it was so tasty. I will have to make some more for sure. Besides, I still have half a bag of each of the beans!
