Happy Easter

I really love Easter. Religiously it has a lot of meaning and I love spending time with family. Also I love that, for me at least, it kind of signals the start of Spring. The weather has been incredible lately. I love Spring.

Since Nathanael and I haven't been married for that long (2 years in May) we don't have a lot of holiday decorations. I wanted to paint some papier mache eggs but I was going to wait until after Easter to get them on sale from the craft store but I saw some 50% off the other day so I bought them. I wasn't sure at first what to do with them exactly and then I remembered some really cute paper napkins my mom gave me. So I painted the eggs and glued the napkins to them. I really love how they turned out.

Then yesterday we went to Nathanael's parents place in Payson for Easter dinner and they were dying hard boiled eggs. I had seen another blog where they dyed their eggs using natural dyes and leaves to make patterns. I didn't have natural dye but I used something to make a natural looking pattern on the eggs. Take a look and see if you can figure out what I used.

Yay for celery leaves. Yup, celery leaves. I picked them off the celery in my in-laws fridge and tied them to the eggs with thread before dying them. I really love them, I think they're neat. I'm going to try it again next year with different types of leaves and flowers.
Two other random bits of news today. First, as I was typing this at work our fire alarm went off. And it's an annoying alarm. So we got to sit outside in the sun for a little while wating for the fire department to let us back in. It was nice, it was warm outside but not hot and the sun felt good.
Second, last night when we were driving home from Payson I saw an animal running across the street. I wasn't sure what it was at first. It kind of looked like a squirrel, you know how they hold their tail up a little...anyway, it was to big for a squirrel, unless it was a mutant squirrel. When we got closer I saw that it was a skunk! A skunk! I had never seen a skunk that wasn't on tv or in a photo or dead. A real live skunk! I had to share.
