The Happiest Place on Earth

...unless you have monster-sized blisters and the crowds are insane and it's sweltering hot.

We just came back from our little family vacation (hubby's family). We were really excited to go and we did have a lot of fun. We left Sunday night and drove straight through to Anaheim. We got to our hotel (the Carriage Inn...bleh!) early so we had lunch before checking in. We rested for a little while and then headed to the park.

First off, when the hotel says they are"only" three blocks from the park, DO NOT get excited. Three blocks from the park means three HUGE city blocks, as in a 30 minute walk. Second, do not get excited when you read that the temperature is "only" going to be 83 degrees. 83 degrees + walking all day + huge crowds + humidity = a LOT hotter than you expect.

But we did have a ton of fun. We went with seven other people (Nathanael's parents, three of his sisters and two brothers) which was fun and hard. It's hard to figure out what you are going to do when there are nine of you making plans.

Plus Side: Going to Huntington Beach and swimming in the Ocean

Down Side: Swallowing enough salt at said beach to meet your daily sodium intake for a month.

Plus Side: Fantasmic, it's amazing and beautiful and fun!

Down Side: Claiming a seat for Fantasmic an hour early only to have Joe Blow with his fat head come stand in front of you as the show is starting.

Plus Side: Awesome rides, fun and fast roller coasters, cute Fantasy Land rides.

Down Side: Long lines in the heat with annoying kids ramming into you while not paying attention.

Plus Side: The new fireworks show "Magical". It was beautiful!

Down Side: Joe Blow and his fat head.

All in all I had a wonderful time (Down Side: monster blisters from walking all day. Plus Side: renting a wheelchair and using it to get around AND to get to the front of all the lines.) I got a new charm for my bracelet and we went on every ride we wanted to. Some several times (the Matterhorn!)

What I learned: don't go to Disneyland in August.

P.S. Do NOT stay at the Carriage Inn in Anaheim. Gross. It was old and dingy and had ants!
