Book Review: the Geometry of Sisters

I just recently finished the Geometry of Sisters by Luanne Rice and thought I would post a little review. I'm hoping to make this blog a blog of all trades.

Synopsis: After a terrible accident claims the life of her husband and causes her oldest daughter to run away, Maura Shaw returns to Newport, Rhode Island with her two younger children. For Maura, returning home to face past ghosts is troubling. With her daughter missing Maura wonders if she too could be in Rhode Island. Set against the beautiful New England coast this is a story of enduring love, family and overcoming trials.

My Favorite Little Thing About the Book: It's set in New England, a place I have always wanted to go. And the children attend school in an old castle-like building, fun!

Favorite Lines: "Sometimes everything in life crystallizes in one moment, one place. Time doesn't matter; years trickle away" -page 40

"Logic had escaped her; she'd been steered by her heart" -page 290

My Review: Luanne Rice is one of those authors that I have read every book they've written. I like the way she writes, the language she uses, but I find that some of her books seem like they have the same story just with different people. This book however was wonderful. The theme of sisters connects the characters through many generations of sisters. Rice's fluid writing and descriptive language kept the pages turning.
