Usually we have craft ideas in surplus when my parents come to visit. My mom and I will email photos and link of craft ideas and pick something well in advance. This time...not so much. We weren't really sure what to do. A few days before they came we decided on wooden blocks to spell out words. We had to color ideas, no word ideas and no ideas on how big or what size or anything. Here's what we came up with.

The WISH blocks were simple for me. The CREATE blocks took a lot more work and ideas for embelishments. But I'm really happy with they way they turned out. My mom's are just as cute.
While we were at the Planted Earth, an antique store in Orem, we looked at vintage (inspired most likely) mercury glass ornaments and came up with a great craft idea that we put together at the spur of the moment.

A super cute chame necklace. My mom's is silver. The cute gold pincone is the mercury glass and the rest was picked up at Michaels and Roberts. Then I had enough chain and charms to make a matching bracelet.
